During a working visit to Latvia in May this year, Ukrainian MP Oleksandr Vasiuk met with the President of the Constitutional Court of Latvia Aldis Lavins, as well as with the Deputy President of the Constitutional Court of Latvia Irena Kuchin, Judge Gunars Kusinis, Head of the Administration Marika Laizane-Jurkane and Advisor to the President Andrijs Stupins.
“We discussed the judicial and constitutional reforms in Ukraine and Latvia and shared the best practices of our countries. The successful implementation of judicial and constitutional reforms in Ukraine is the path we need to take to become a full member of the EU. It is important both for the citizens of Ukraine and the international community,” said Oleksandr Vasiuk.
He also met with Andrijs Jūdins, Chairman of the Legal Policy Committee of the Saeima of Latvia.
“We discussed Ukraine’s European integration, judicial and constitutional reforms in Ukraine and Latvia. We also discussed Latvia’s assistance in rebuilding our country and support in humanitarian and security issues, as well as at the international level. I am grateful to Latvia for its strong support of Ukraine!” said Oleksandr Vasiuk.
